Round 2

The time for the dynamic duo is over.
BUT change means progression!
I will be training AGAIN!
I love serving the Lord by taking care of a brand new missionary.
We only have one Spanish Hermana coming in and the lord knows I probably have a lot to learn from my new kid!
I'm extremely lucky to have this opportunity again.
Training is good, I just have to keep her alive right?
I'll meet her on Tuesday.
Haha so this week has been very good. We have been seeing these crazy miracles!
My favorite one is when we were driving home and we pulled up and for some reason there wasn't as much traffic as there usually is so we pulled up at 8:45 to our apartment. And decided to talk to one more person.
So we knocked on a PNIs house that lived only down the street from our apartment . And we were looking for a Giovanni Castro. But he no longer lived there . These really kind ladies were the ones that answered, So we explained to them that we are missionary's and that he had interest in the past, so we asked them if they would have interest, and one lady was kind of like" I already go to a church but you guys are always welcome to stop by" and then as we have them our information, that ladies leaves to take care of a crying baby. And the other lady looks at us with the biggest smile ever that it was almost creepy.
So we just smile back at her trying to see if she was just really happy or if she was crazy.
And all of a sudden she says "I'm convinced you girls are angels sent by God"
"I am always running into missionaries like you guys, some were boys that were named elder in Mexico and then again here when I came to America , never paid too much thought to them and thought what they did was nice but I have been looking for you guys because I am going through some problems and I feel like there's something I am missing, I have faith in the lord and I know that he's there but there's something inside me that craves to know something more and I have been praying for a sign  and then you guys knocked on a door while looking for someone else and I know you girls are the sign"
We were SHOCKED!!!!
She started to cry and we just hugged her and testified that we are messengers to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ, and that we have been lead to her. We testified that she wasn't alone and that there's a lot more and we have what's she's looking for her. She gave us the sweetest hugs and made an appointment with us later this week .

HOW AWESOME IS THAT!!!

We skipped back to our apartment that night! In awe that the Lord is in every detail and helps us in every way as long as we are diligent and faithful!

My other favorite story is of our investigator Alejandro and Patricia.
Alejandro is nuts! (I've told you guys this already) and we can't ever tell if he takes us seriously cause of his personality.
We haven't seen him in 2 weeks and we were a little iffy about him. So we knock and he answered and was so happy to see us and I was closest to the door and gives me a GAINT HUG ( MY MIND FLIPPED OUT) and I start laughing super nervously. And he then gives Hna dyer a GAINT hug . And I think he saw how uncomfortable we got and says "oops I'm sorry but I just missed you guys" haha we were just like "no no we missed you guys too!" They let us in and they told us how they read 8 chapters in the Book of Mormon!!!! That's a miracle! And he had bookmark all thelaces where he had super awesome questions about and literally said "WOW THIS BOOK DOES GO HAND IN HAND WITH THE BIBLE, ITS TRUE WHAT YOU GUYS SAID"

I almost flipped the table from excitement, because we were in verge of dropping them. They also apologized and explained how they been super busy and stuff. But that they love us :)

Alejandro and Patricia and their daughter (investigators)
They gave us so much food.
We ate
Colombian empanadas
Puerto Rican rice
Ribs
Shrimp
And tacos
in one sitting
So many blessings.....

I AM A CHILD OF GOD

Hello world!!!

Highlight: getting 5 new investigators this week!!!

So I have a ton of pictures so I'll just say something that I learned this week that I need you all to know.

So we had sisters conference. Which is like a conference , but only sisters.
And it was all about WOMAN POWER AND IT ROCKED MY WORLD.
so something about me the past 7 months is that in my prayers I am asking to be a perfect missionary. And I just want the lord to know how much I love him, and how badly I want to be his servant. "All I want to do is serve you" and "please help me as your servant"
And at sisters conference I was taught.....the words were so clear. "I love you, you are my servant but YOU ARE MY DAUGHTER FIRST" the spirit firmly hit my head with those words.

I forgot. I forgot that I am his daughter. I forgot he is the one that is creating me....he is still creating me.

And I forgot that I don't need to prove anything to him because he loves me no matter what.

I have been forgetting that we are all his children.
That he loves us all and he misses us, he needs us, and didn't put on this earth to fail.

He is always letting me know that he hasn't forgotten me....but not as his servant but as his daughter.

He loves his children.  Don't you forget it.

My lovely district. :)

The Lord Knows

So this awesome thing happened ,
Where we were walking, and I don't like Chicago summers as much as I don't like their winters....but hey what are you gonna do.
So we were walking and it was hot....and humid....and hot. And Hermana dyer had to go to the bathroom, so we were like "hey there's a restaurant , we could use their bathroom" so we go in and realize that it's super fancy, and there we are with our humidified hair and red cheeks and $10 forever 21 flats. And we ask the German host if we can use their bathroom and he said yeah. So we go and as we come out, the German host guy looks at us and says "you guys look tired and like you been walking some blocks, why don't you guys sit down and have some water?" So we agreed to the water and at us down at the bar and gave us water in really fancy cups with a very fancy straw. And we drink our water and a busboy comes to get some plates and we started speaking to him and he just moved here from Guatemala. Small talk. We gave a card and told him who we were and said our goodbyes. And then we walk for 10 minutes and our phone rings, we answer, and it's that guy!!!!! Why is that so exciting?? BECAUSE NO ONE EVER CALLS US FROM A PASS ALONG CARD . And he says "I need God in my life , can you help me?" We said yes and scheduled an appointment! So we are seeing him tonight!

Another miracle that happen is that this weekend we had a "mini missionary" they do this cool thing in the stake where they get the youth to sign up to do a 3 day mission with the missionaries, so we have like a little transfer meeting and meet our mini . And we got Alison barrios. The cutest girl ever who is 17 yrs old (which is weird cause I just got done being 17 yrs old.....like almost 3 years ago...)

She has a huge testimony and is amazing! And then Hermana dyer got super sick and got a migraine so I was thinking and said "I love you comp but I'm gonna drop you off somewhere so me and Alison and go do some work" so the only people a able to stay with her was our mission presidents wife.
As we pull up to their house, Hermana dyer had this plastic bowl with her in case she threw up in the car, and we get out of the car and she just stands there and sways and grabs the bowl threw up right in from of the mission home. It was hilarious, and then we rang the door bell and president answered and we handed him a bowl full of Hermana dyers throw up. It was hilarious. I have been telling everyone that story for days, (one of my many talents- awesome story teller) but no worries I got Hermana dyers permission to tell everyone.
ANYWAYS
We drop her off and as we we're driving to the neighborhood that we were gonna knock doors on, I realized that I was with a 17 year old who has no experience and not set apart nor has a badge on .
So it made me realize how much Heavely Father trusts me in that moment, I literally felt alone, it was the weirdest thing ever, I could literally feel less authority . It was so weird. But I decided to have a good attitude so we knock on the door and I introduce ourselves to this Hispanic lady and let's us in, we showed her "because of him" on our iPads. And as I started bearing my testimony of the savior, she broke down crying and said "I'm sorry, we been going through a lot , and I was just about to tell him that I lost all faith in him, and then he sent me 2 people to my door to tell me that he loves me and that's he there"
And we said HECK YEAH! And Alison gave this beautiful testimony about never being alone and it was awesome! We asked if we could come back and she said yes please do. So we are seeing her this week! So pumped!!! The lord really does provide, I had nothing to be worried about, obviously that lady (Marisel) really needed to hear Alison's testimony, so that was super awesome!!

Just really wanted to share those things with you guys about how the lord really does prepare his children to learn about This week ,

Food Poisoning, Skirts, and Tiredness

So this week we got some food poisoning going on, a very sweet sick puerto rican lady gave us some very very questionable food this week.
"Oh Hermana this is delicious, what kind of meat is it"
"Idk , it's that cheap canned paste lunch meat"
"Oh it's great"
It was a long night, but thank goodness that mine only lasted one day and Hermana dyer is still pulling through.
So we couldn't do too much this week, but here are some highlights :)

Weekly highlights

image1.JPG

-going on exchanges and staying up so late talking that the past couple of days have been rough( I literally feel like an old lady who needs her sleep/ a zombie that can't process things because of tiredness)
And we have a member that lives down stairs and we do service for her every Friday, so we are helping her make skirts and even learning how to make our own. #missionteacheslifeskills

-PUTTING ALEJANDRO AND PATRICIA ON DATE!

-we have this TIWI thing that our mission got on our cars. And it's the most awful thing ever, we all have our own cards and have to log in whenever we drive. And we are not allowed to go past the speed limit or "drive aggressively" otherwise there's a recording of Thomas s Monson telling us to slow down or that we are driving aggressively.............

Just kidding , it's not Thomas S Monson voice. But it would've been cool. But there is a voice that sounds like a robot.

Anyways, yeah this monster records everything we do and then sends it to our mission president and vehicle coordinator, so driving has been stressfulso far. The thing that sucks is that we are in the city, there's not much of a speed limit.....so everyone has been hating us.....whatever we are just getting more refined. So once we are home, we will learn how to be safe and diligent with technology AND how to drive super safe. once we were in that meeting with TIWI dude and when he was explaining aaalllll the rules and stuff we could just hear the sighs of a thousand worried parents.
Good stuff

-we did this finding activity, where we went to a park and set up a stand with our members and gave out free snow cones and meanwhile we talk to people about the gospel and go contacting with our members. It was so much fun and we talked to so many people And set up appointmimage3.JPGents! I love this ward, this ward is on fire.

image4.JPG

-going to zone training, and we got asked to do a role play, and our zone leaders told us to think of our own investigators and play them and then the ZLs were going to be the missionaries. So me and Hermana dyer looked at each and said "Alejandro and Patricia"
So Alejandro is a NUT! He can't sit still, is very loud and hilarious, and always makes us eat something whether we want it or not. He's awesome .
So I got to play Alejandro, and Hermana dyer was like " can you live up to it?" And I said "oh yeah"
We started the role play in front of our zone. And I almost felt bad because I felt like I was embarrassing our zone leaders. The other missionaries were cracking up , and the zone leaders as they were trying to teach us were trying so hard not to laugh, so being the nice considerate person that I am , I toned it down a notch . And it went great.

-getting all appointments cancelled on us, FINDING TIME ! ️ I love finding and tracking!

-dying our neighbors hair again.  When  ye are in the service of your fellowmen.....

I am doing super awesome! Loving this life!!!!!! I really can't imagine life without these experiences I have been having.

Love you all. Be faithful. Use your knees, use your faith

Inspired Ice Cream/Missionary Work

This has been so great!

Chicago Subway Stop

We are seeing so many Miracles lately!
It's crazy!!!! It's like there's a God or something.
So we had a noche de hogar with a less active family and it was so much fun, they have been inactive their whole lives so they really don't remember anything, so we talked about the restoration and watch the 20 minute video.
And then they came to church that Sunday:)
Another thing that's been happening is a lot of crying from less actives. On how discouraged they are to live the gospel. And they cry out to us so much. It's so sad :(  but those moments are the moments when I am so grateful to be here on a mission. And telling them that God does care and that he loves us and that the heavens are opened! To anyone who's willing to have an open heart and mind!
It's so great!

Hermana Curapil and Hermana Dyer ("We love each other")

SO this week this super cool thing happened. We call it INSPIRED FROSTY
it's a thing.
Anytime we get the idea to get a frosty, a miracle happens!
Because when we stop through a drive thru to get one and then head over to an investigators house or less active that are hard to find, makes it the perfect timing where they just park their car. And then we creepily wait for them to get in their house before we knock......and we seriously do not stop knocking until they answer. It's great! We were so determined to find this one less active who's whole family isn't baptized. Where we ran the doorbell a million times (I won't bother to explain Chicago apartments cause their system is weird) and then we got in their building and knock their door. And then we went outside and......might have thrown pebbles on their window. BUT they answered after the hundredth time and felt our love for them and had a BOMB lesson!!!

So if you ever need a miracle go get a frosty!

Hermana Curapil, and Dyer
(I'll get the names of the other two Sisters)

So let me go on a rant about how awesome our ward is!!
They got it going on!
We are doing tons of finding activities, where we get a free snow cone stand and then get our whole ward there, and contact like crazy! And they love it so much! Their such awesome member missionaries! It makes my heart so happy!!!!
And always plan dinners at our bishops house where each companionship brings an investigator and it's so much fun!!
I love it here so much!!!

"I Think It's Art"

There was this cool moment where we knocking doors and this Egyptian lady answered and said "sisters!" And made us come in. She thought we were catholic sisters, but we explained a little. And she had the most beautiful looking kids! And they all surrounded us telling us their beautiful names. And one of their kids who was like 7 was holding his baby brother. And he kept on trying to give me his baby brother and since we can't hold babies , I just awkwardly kept my arms crossed and he kept putting the baby up to me and I was like "no sweetie it's okay" and the little boy said "come on it's just a baby, what are you scared or something?"
It was great.
Then the mom just asked us what we do, she told us how her family came to the states like 3 years ago, we asked if she likes it and she said "a little too much, we feel like we are actually worth here, in Egypt they don't treat people very well, they treat us like we are just plastic, they would beat my kids at school and hit me and my husband at work"
And she told us their life story and everything that happened in Egypt,
We told them they are where they are suppose to be and that God loves them and that there is a plan for them and that we could help them. And her and all her little kids started crying and said "yes yes we need help, we don't know how to be a family"
And we said we could help them and they were so happy! It broke my heart.

One of the beauties of serving in Chicago is that it's so diverse, we get to hear about the lives of so many people and how they got here to America and everything that had gone through. And it's so humbling to see their faith and diligence without the gospel. And I just love being able to testify of the Saviors love to them. Whether they can understand us or not. Because English isn't spoken a lot here in Chicago especially in the northside.
We have learned things in Filipino , Polish, Italian, Arabic, and French. It's so cool!

One of our investigators took us to an ARGENTINE RESTAURANT! And it was the happiest day of my life.

But anyways, those are some highlight that I can think of right now. Haha sorry I might be depriving you of some awesome experiences but these are what I can remember.

Love you all! The church is true!

 This has been so great!
